Modern Luxury Interiors Chicago
“We wanted to balance a timeless
home with modern touches that are
still cozy for everyday living,” says
the wife of a couple who moved into
their new-construction Lincoln Park
home last year. Looking around at
the immaculate kitchen she adds,
“And it had to be durable. We
have a 2-year-old and 5-year-old!”
Brought in to make that wish list
into a house was the team of Vincere
with principals Tom Konopiot
and Michad Stornello, along with
builder Bloomfield Development.

It may have been an empty nest that prompted a
husband and wife to downsize from their Oak Park
home to a tailored Lincoln Park townhouse, but by no means is it an empty house. In fact, theirs is a rather full one that cleverly uses every inch of its narrow urban lot. “They wanted a traditional envelope but not necessarily a traditional lifestyle,” explains Tom Konopiots, who, with partner Michael Stornello, was hired to realize the couple’s vision.
“The move to the city has invigorated us,” says the wife. “Who I am today is different from who I was when we had little kids. We see plays every week—do things we didn’t do before—and this house is a gathering point.”

BRAVO TV'S JEFF LEWIS
Bloomfield Development recently collaborated with Bravo TV's Jeff Lewis Design and Walter E. Smithe to showcase their new, curated furniture collection. Jeff Lewis chose two Bloomfield homes in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood as design locations. Jeff and his team flew to Chicago and spent three days designing the Bloomfield interiors. Jim and his wife and Realtor, Sheri, worked directly with Jeff's design team and the Walter E. Smithe family as they created a TV commercial and photo shoot.

In 2003, he founded the Chicago-based custom homebuilding company.
“I was involved heavily on the legal side of things from commercial to residential development and got to know a lot of developers, architects, engineers and brokers in Chicago as their lawyer,” he says. “I eventually decided to follow my passion to start my own company.” – Jim Schueller

Last week Inhabitat was invited to tour this stunning home in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. The modern abode is home to a passionate family who wanted to fuse healthy living with expert green design. The home is built on a vacant lot where a CTA bus depot stood long ago, and the teams involved in designing and building this new home considered every detail against the principles of sustainable design, as well as the healthy living guidelines promoted by the non-profit organization Healthy Child Healthy World.
